Kevin - Woodwinds, Brass, Piano
Kevin offers lessons in Brass, Woodwinds and Piano. He is a certified music teacher in the state of Ohio for grades K-12 with emphasis on Instrumental Music. Kevin is an enthusiastic and kind teacher who always encourages excellence from his students, and has experience working with children with special needs. Many of his students participate in OMEA Solo and Ensemble Competition.
Kevin performs with the Toledo Jazz Orchestra, the German American Band the Johnny Knorr Orchestra, and with the Ragtime Rick & The Chefs of Dixieland as a trombonist. He is a guest artist for Christ the King Catholic Church for major holidays. At Ohio Northern University, he was a guest clinician for the ONU Jazz Festival.
Mr. Kevin is also employed with Emmanuel Christian Schools assisting with ensembles and private applied instruction under Mrs. Yvonne Youngblood. As a volunteer with the amazing Northwood Rangers Marching Band, Kevin runs sectional rehearsals and assists with marching and maneuvering techniques. The Marching Band performed at Walt Disney World in 2015.

Kevin has been teaching music since the 1980’s. He received his Bachelor and Master of Arts Degree in Music Education from the prestigious Marshall University. He was former band director at Central Catholic High School in Toledo, Ohio. Mr. Shope is an avid follower of DCI (Drum Corp International) and one of his former Forté students was on tour with the Blue Knights Drum Corp.
One of his favorite quotes is: "We are the makers of the music and we are the dreamers of the dreams." - Willy Wonka. Kevin is an antique collector, especially vintage band instruments and vintage toys. Love those old brass instruments! |
