Allison - Violin & Viola, Winds, Brass, Piano

Allison has been teaching in Toledo for over ten years. She is currently an assistant director of orchestras in Toledo Public Schools. She first started playing the flute in the fifth grade, and has since studied the cello, clarinet, saxophone, piano, and conducting, as well as flute and piccolo. She is comfortable teaching wind and string instruments as well as piano. Although she is primarily classically trained, Allison has extensive jazz experience. Her favorite genres to perform are Baroque music, contemporary classical music, and the blues. She currently performs as a pit orchestra musician for musical theater and a soloist at the Most Blessed Sacrament Parish.
She graduated with a Master’s Degree in Music Performance from the University of Toledo, where she studied with Joel Tse of the Toledo Symphony and served as the teaching assistant for the UT Orchestra. In 2019, Allison studied with Lorna McGhee and William Bennett at the William Bennett International Flute Summer School near London, United Kingdom. Prior to graduate school, Allison received a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the Ohio State University, where she graduated with distinction for her study abroad and research in Xi’an, China.
When she is not teaching or performing, Allison enjoys traveling, reading, fostering kittens, and spending time with her own cat, Gir.
