Tyler - Violin, Viola

Tyler is a second-year master’s student at Bowling Green State University working towards his Master of Music in violin performance. He was appointed a graduate teaching assistantship upon acceptance and now works closely with Dr. Elaine Colprit in the String Methods undergraduate course. He currently studies under the tutelage of Dr. Penny Thompson-Kruse (Professor of Violin at Bowling Green State University). His previous teachers include Daniel Mason (Professor of Violin at the University of Kentucky), Ms. Lauren Wright, and Mr. Aaron Breeck. Tyler has also performed in masterclasses taught by Jeffrey Multer (Concertmaster of the Florida Symphony Orchestra), Dr. Laura Kobayashi (student of string pedagogue Dorothy DeLay), Dr. Solomia Soroka (Professor of Violin at Goshen College), Miro Hristov (Professor of Violin at the University of Tennessee), and Daniel Mason (Professor of Violin at the University of Kentucky).
 
A native of Kentucky, Tyler holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Performance with a minor in Psychology from the University of Kentucky. He has taught alongside student teachers and faculty in the University of Kentucky Strings Project, engaged in teaching and audition workshops with the Central Kentucky Youth Orchestras, and has been a local private teacher in the Lexington-Fayette area since 2016. He currently holds an online teaching position as Violin/Viola Instructor with the Central Music Academy in Lexington, KY. This past year, Tyler also worked with and mentored students in the Detroit Symphony Youth Orchestras as part of the Detroit Symphony Orchestra Civic Youth Ensembles Mentor Program. As a dedicated performer and teacher, Tyler hopes to share his passion for music by developing the next generation of musicians. He is currently based in Bowling Green, OH and is both an active performer and teacher within the Northern Ohio area.
