Teresa - Piano, Voice
Teresa’s love of music began at an early age. She started singing publicly at the age of five, inspired in large part by her grandmother, who played an important role in encouraging her musical journey. She began piano lessons at age five and continued studying piano through college. She also studied trumpet throughout her school years and into her collegiate studies.
Teresa earned a Bachelor of Music from Heidelberg University, with concentrations in voice, trumpet, and piano, followed by a Master of Music Education from Bowling Green State University. She was also honored to be selected as one of ten recipients nationwide to attend a tuition-free honorary doctoral program in Music Education at Northwestern University.
Throughout her career, Teresa has had the privilege of teaching students of all ages, from preschoolers to senior citizens. She strongly believes that music is for all ages and music is for everyone. She also has extensive experience working with students with special needs and helping each student experience music in a way that is meaningful and rewarding.
Her teaching experience includes band and choir programs at Loudonville Junior High and High School, Napoleon Junior High and High School, Anthony Wayne Schools, Middle Bass Art Camp, and Forté Music School. Teresa has also served as a clinician and adjudicator for a variety of musical events. In addition, she has many years of experience serving churches throughout Ohio as a worship leader, choir director, youth music leader, and pianist.
For Teresa, some of the greatest accomplishments in music are not measured by awards, but by watching students grow—whether seeing a student progress from singing in a small studio to performing on a Broadway stage or witnessing the way music can positively change a person’s life.
Music has brought tremendous joy to Teresa’s life, and she looks forward to sharing that same joy and love of music with her students at Forté Music School.
