Scott - Piano
Scott began his piano studies at the age of three. When he was seven, he became
part of the piano studio of Mrs. Dolores Sholl. To further his musical endeavors, in the sixth grade, he also began studying the French horn and shortly thereafter joined the Toledo Youth Symphony Orchestra which he participated in throughout high school. In both piano and French horn he participated yearly in junior high and high school OMEA Music Contest receiving top ratings. In his senior year of high school, Scott soloed with Grieg’s Concerto in A Minor as part of a pre-concert with the TYSO.
Upon graduating, Scott attended Philadelphia Biblical University (now Cairn University) for 3 semesters having obtained both music and academic scholarships. There he studied with Dr. Samuel Hsu who himself was among the last of the Rosina Lhevinne students. Rosina was married to Josef Lhevinne and they were a famed Russian-born pianist husband and wife duo, who trained generations of world-renowned concert pianists at the Juilliard School in New York City. Scott earned Music Freshman of the Year status at PBU.
Then, he came back home to study at the University of Toledo under Dr. Michael Boyd who himself graduated from the acclaimed Eastman University. Scott again received a music scholarship at the University of Toledo where he later graduated with departmental honors in December of 2021 with his Bachelors of Music in Piano Performance. While at UT he appeared in masterclasses and accompanied many of his fellow students both instrumental and vocal extensively.
Scott has taught several piano students through the years ranging from all ages. He also accompanies some locally for Music Director Thomas Sneed at Clay High School. On the side, he enjoys reading, following sports, playing chess, watching The Chosen and loving on his mom’s new golden retriever puppy, Zebedee.
