Sara - Voice, Piano

Sara, originally from Parma, OH, is very excited to begin her journey as a voice and piano instructor at Forté Music School. She began taking piano lessons at 8 years old and was always a member on her school choirs while growing up. She was very involved in the internationally known youth chorus, The Singing Angels, based in Cleveland, OH, where she was a singing member, then a staff pianist and a student conductor two years. Later, she served as one of their Assistant Music Directors (2015-2018).
Sara’s passion for singing lead her to attended Bowling Green State University. She holds a Bachelor’s of Music in Music Education and her primary instrument of study was voice (graduated 2011). Sara has since gained experience in several aspects of music education such as general music/elementary music, band, orchestra, adapted music for students with special needs, and choir. Some of her vocal areas of expertise are jazz, classical, musical theatre, contemporary pop/indie pop and barbershop while her approach for solo singing is that of helping a student find their authentic voice through the use of proper and healthy vocal technique and special attention to her student’s interests and goals.
Sara has spent over 25 years gaining experience in piano with an emphasis on accompanying, whether it be for OMEA solo and ensemble or in a pit orchestra setting such as piano for Legally Blonde: The Musical or synthesizer for Beauty and the Beast (high school productions, Cleveland area). She enjoys teaching piano students at beginning and intermediate levels, helping them with their music reading skills, technique and musicality. A key to growth and success as a private lesson student is also learning to find a practice routine that works for them.
Sara is in her 12th year of public school teaching and her 3rd year in Liberty Benton Local Schools, where she teaches 5th grade choir, 6-8 grade general music and acts as the high school band and choir assistant director. She also co-directs the annual musical production that opens every February.
Sara resides in Findlay, OH with her 3 sweet cats, Flora, Everest and Daisy and enjoys nature, baking, playing her guitar and spending time with her family and friends in her spare time. She is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Walden University as a full time graduate student.
