PIANO / KEYBOARD LESSONS FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS (for ages 5 and up)
Our piano teachers teach a variety of styles from classical to popular music. Whether you want to learn Bach or Alicia Keys, our teachers are happy to help you become the pianist you want to be. Our piano faculty will show you the fundamentals of sight reading, technique and theory, but they will also incorporate your favorite songs into your lessons. Our piano teachers have warm personalities and enjoy sharing their love for the piano with you.
Beginner students start with the fundamentals, such as learning the note names of the keys, reading music, and progressing from one hand to two hand songs. More experienced students continue to progress with advanced technique instruction and exercises, especially through significant repertoire. As a beginner, you do not have to have a piano at home to take lessons. A simple full size electronic keyboard will suffice for the first 6 months. Some of our students rent or buy small electric keyboards to practice on at home. We recommend a keyboard that has regular sized keys, weighted keys, and a touch sensitive response. A touch sensitive keyboard means if you press a key harder it will play louder and if you press a key softer it will play quieter. |

ELECTRIC, BASS, ACOUSTIC, CLASSICAL GUITAR & UKULELE LESSONS FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS
Our guitar teachers can teach all styles of music, from the traditional beginning method series teaching approach, to reading standard notation, reading tabs and charts, playing by ear and improvisation, with pop, rock, jazz, blues, contemporary, alternative, shredding, classical, folk, flamenco – you name it! In a private guitar or bass lesson, the teacher has the opportunity to help the student individually for the entire lesson time, and structures each lesson personally for the student depending on their skill level and goals.
Beginner students can expect to work on chords, simple songs and melodies, sight reading and theory. We balance musicianship and fun by making sure that each lesson you are challenged with a new technical or theory concept, but always end with something fun such as your favorite riff or song. We use a variety of guitar method books to accomplish this and encourage students to bring CDs or their iPod to their lesson to learn their favorite tunes. Our teachers can even help you with basic guitar repair: such as the set up of your guitar or replacing your strings! For more advanced repairs, we do offer in house guitar repair. |

DRUM / PERCUSSION LESSONS FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS (for ages 6 and up)
Our studio has 2 drum sets side by side, so the student and teacher can play together and the student can easily copy the movements the teacher demonstrates. Our drum instructors teach all styles of music, from beginning basics through Blues, Funk, Jazz, Latin, Rock, Hip-Hop, World, Afro-Cuban, Brazilian, Bebop, Big Band, Fusion, Country, Metal, Alternative – you name it! Drum language can be complex and our instructors will challenge any drummer with a wide variety of technical exercises designed to improve your speed and comfort.
Students learn the rudiments of reading drum set notation and how to play like your favorite rock star. All drummers bring in their favorite drum parts to learn in their lessons and theory is encouraged. We have many drum students who play in local bands be it in rock clubs or their local churches. You do not have to purchase a drum kit to take lessons. Beginning students can learn with a drum pad and sticks. A drum pad cost around $25 and drum sticks around $13. They are both available in our store, for your convenience. Students use our drum set at their lessons, and do not have to bring anything except their drum sticks and a notebook. |

TRUMPET, TROMBONE, TUBA, LESSONS FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS (for ages 7 and up)
In a first brass lesson, the teacher might start by having the student experiment, first simply producing a note, then trying to alter it by changing the embouchure using the tongue, jaw and cheek muscles. Next the student will learn basic fingerings for valve instruments, and slide positions for the trombone. The student will practice moving up and down the scale, moving smoothly from one note to the next. Once this has been mastered, the student is ready to begin learning songs.
As the student advances, exercises for breath control, finger dexterity, tonguing (punctuating notes by pressing the tongue against the front teeth and releasing it), and embouchure control will be introduced, as well as more advanced techniques like trilling, bending notes, double-tonguing (using both the tip and the middle of the tongue for faster articulation), and circular breathing (breathing in through the nose and out through the mouth simultaneously by storing air in the cheeks in order to sustain notes longer). Basic music theory will also be taught along the way. |

CELLO LESSONS FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS
Our Violin, Viola or Cello instructors will teach using a blend or traditional and Suzuki approach, from learning how to play by ear, to reading music. If you want to play classical music, popular tunes, fiddle, bluegrass or Celtic, we have a teacher for you. Students can be as young as 5 years old, or younger with the teacher's approval.
Our students love learning the fundamentals, as well as incorporating your favorite songs into their lessons. Each lesson includes theory, ear training, sight reading, technique, and history. Our teachers have friendly personalities and love working with children, teens, and adults! A beginner student will start with the fundamentals of learning the parts of the instrument, proper finger placement and bow hold, musical note reading, ear training, and learning basic songs. More advanced students continue to progress by mastering significant repertoire and developing advanced techniques such as Vibrato, Harmonics, Spiccato, Ricochet, etc. For Violin students only, we offer a violin rental program in our school. Violas, Cellos or Basses can be rented locally. |

FLUTE LESSONS FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS
Our curriculum emphasizes a balanced posture, ear training, sight reading, proper technique, beautiful tone production, accurate intonation, musicianship skills, leads students through a sequential body of repertoire, scales, etudes, music history, and the history of the instrument. Our teachers will work through repertoire of any style with the student, helping them learn correct notes and adjust their technique for healthy playing and good tone production.
Beginning students will start with the fundamentals such as instrument assembly, proper reed position, embouchure, efficient breathing and air stream, correct posture, correct hand and finger positioning, etc. At first the student may learn by ear, but for most styles, note-reading is essential, so the teacher will probably begin introducing theory right away. Advanced students will continue progressing with gradually more challenging exercises, learning more significant repertoire, developing even tone, articulation, vibrato, musicianship skills, learning how to perform on stage, etc. A student with a good mastery of note reading as well as the major and minor scales will be prepared to play most band repertoire. Classical and jazz music tend to require more time, both because of the technical demands made on the player, and because of the amount of theory that must be learned. |
