Marjorie - Piano

Marjorie has been living and making music in Toledo for almost 28 years. She grew up in northwest Indiana, beginning piano lessons at the age of 5. After a musical childhood of piano, singing, flute and oboe playing and English hand bells, she moved to Michigan, where she got her B.M. in piano performance, with a minor in organ performance, at Hope College. From there, it was off to Massachusetts, to the University of Lowell (now U. Mass Lowell) to get a M.M. in piano performance. For the next 3 years, she played the organ and led the choir at Andover Baptist Church, taught group and private piano lessons at Gordon College.
Since moving to Toledo, Marjorie has taught private piano lessons, and performed in solo, duo and chamber concerts, as well as accompanying for several faculty recitals in Ohio and Indiana. She currently also plays the piano and sings on the worship team at Gateway Baptist Church, and accompanies the Jr.-Sr. choir at Emmanuel Christian School.
Do you want to learn to read notes on a page, or do you want to make music? Marjorie’s desire as a teacher is to help her students not only learn how to play the piano, but to develop a love of music.
