Jenna - Voice, Music FunTime, Piano Group Class
Hailing from the home of Punxsutawney Phil, Jenna is a voice teacher and singer based in Northwest Ohio. She is a graduate of Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania (Music Education PK–12 and Music Performance). Jenna has international performance experience in Italy and France with the Slippery Rock University Chamber Singers.
She devoted her time at SRU to the Slippery Rock University Early Childhood and Elementary Music Community Engagement Initiative, teaching weekly preschool music classes, coordinating and leading the initiative's free family music events, and collaborating with colleagues to create impactful musical experiences across the initiative’s programs. Jenna collaborated with the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra's Fiddlesticks Family Concert Series and The Children's Museum of Pittsburgh. Passionate about community engagement, she partnered with the Punxsutawney Memorial Library to create Musical Storytime, a free family event centering around music-making and children's literature.
Jenna is a classically trained soprano who has been featured in numerous SRU Opera productions. Major performance credits include Madame Pompous (Too Many Sopranos) and Little Red Riding Hood (Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf). She is constantly learning more about her voice, the pedagogy behind it, and how she can integrate new styles of singing. She conducted research in vocal pedagogy and its perceptions within the field of music education in the state of Pennsylvania. In addition to this, she has experience teaching voice students across a wide variety of ages.
Jenna is continuing her studies at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio, where she is pursuing her master’s degree in Voice Performance. When not making music, she can be found with a good romance novel, crafting, or spending time with her friends and family.
