Gina Buzzelli - Violin, Viola
A native of Bowling Green, OH, Gina Buzzelli is a freelance musician based in Northwest Ohio. Gina holds a Master's degree and a Graduate Certificate in violin performance from the University of Northern Colorado. At Ball State University she earned a BM in violin performance and was the recipient of the Presidential Scholarship in the Arts as well as the Presidential Academic Scholarship. She began her violin studies at the age of seven and her teachers have included Jubal Fulks, Anna Vayman, Merwin Siu, Ioana Galu, and Mary Natvig. Gina has also had the opportunity to perform in masterclasses with artists such as Hilary Hahn, Felix Olschofka, Anna Reider, Felicia Moye, St. Martin in the Fields Chamber Orchestra, Tesla String Quartet, and Trio Solis. During the summers she has participated in the Round Top Festival Institute, National Music Festival, Miami Summer Music Festival, Eastern Music Festival (as a student in 2013 and a string fellow in 2018), and the International Lyric Academy Opera Festival in Viterbo, Italy. In addition to being classically trained, Gina has pursued other genres participating in jazz combos at both Ball State University and the University of Northern Colorado, and attending the Jamey Aebersold Summer Jazz Workshop and Mark O’Connor Fiddle Camp. Furthermore, she was a featured soloist with BSU’s top jazz band on their European Tour in May of 2015 and actively performs with the All Angles Orchestra and Dynamix String Quartet.
