Dominic - Piano

Dominic discovered his love for music at a young age, growing up in a vibrant, musical household influenced by his Mexican heritage. Surrounded by family members who played instruments and sang, he was especially inspired by his father, who played piano in a Tejano band. One summer, between 5th and 6th grade, Dominic asked his father to set up his keyboards—and from that moment on, his musical adventure has begun. With a year of viola already under his belt, he transitioned naturally into learning piano, drawn by both its expressive sound and the desire to follow in his father’s footsteps.
Dominic has been playing piano since the 6th grade and has explored many musical paths, from solo work to duets with violinists and other instrumentalists. His passion for piano deepened in high school when he began collaborating with other musicians across genres, including classical and pop. A highlight of his musical journey was performing a piano duet in front of over a thousand people—a dream come true. Most recently, he joined a band called Hit & Run, where he blends pop, country, and jazz in live performances, enjoying the camaraderie and shared love of music.
Currently in college, Dominic is formally studying classical and jazz piano while continuing to take private lessons. He brings a love for diverse styles—particularly bossa nova, funk, jazz, and classical—to his teaching, with jazz being his favorite to share with students. His goal as an educator is to nurture a genuine love for music and help students grow into the best musicians they can be.
In addition to piano, Dominic has played viola for seven years, earning first chair placements and performing with groups such as the University of Toledo Symphony Orchestra, OMEA District 1 Honors Orchestra, Northwest Ohio Regional Orchestra, and the TSYO Symphonic Orchestra. He also dabbles in drums, guitar, bass guitar, and saxophone.
Outside of music, Dominic enjoys running, swimming, boating, camping, and hiking—anything that gets him outdoors and inspired by nature.
