Carlyn - Violin/Viola

Carlyn has been playing the viola for more than twenty years, since she started as a fourth-grade student in northeast Ohio. She has played with ensembles in multiple states, including serving as viola section leader for the Sylvania Community Orchestra (2018 – present) and a student symphony at Ball State University (2011 – 2013). She has taught viola, violin, and oboe to students of all ability levels, from ages 5 to 65.
Carlyn earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with minors in Music and Science from Bowling Green State University in 2011. She went on to earn her Master of Arts in Community Mental Health Counseling with a minor in Social Psychology from Ball State University in 2013.
When she’s not playing her viola, Carlyn can be found working as the high school counselor at Toledo School for the Arts, crocheting all manner of blankets and creatures, officiating weddings, and playing Dungeons & Dragons with friends.
Carlyn is delighted to have so many opportunities to continue her musical growth through teaching and performance in the Toledo area!
